Bosnia and Herzegovina : Identity Card (2015 — 2025)

On 1 March 2013 Bosnia and Herzegovina has introduced a new electronic ID card costing KM 18.00 (€9.20)

Bosnian-Herzegovinian identity card (Bosnian: Li?na karta, Serbian Cyrillic: ????? ?????, Croatian: Osobna iskaznica) is a compulsory identity document issued in Bosnia.

All Bosnian citizens who are residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina and are over the age of 15 have the right to apply for the national ID card; nevertheless, all Bosnian-Herzegovina citizens that are over the age of 18 must have an Identity Card issued by the police (Ministarstvo Unutarnjih Poslova - MUP) by the city of residence. The deadline for submitting an application for the issuance of an ID card is 60 days after the completion of 18 years of age, or 60 days after being permanently resident in BiH, if he has attained 18 years of age.

Protective elements in identity card are fully compliant with EU recommendations.

On the left side of the ID is the photograph of the bearer, whereas on the opposite side, a hologram is placed, with the country's flag and name being visible.
