Passport from Bosnia & Herzegovina
Series VII : ICAO Biometric Passport (Generation 3)
In June 2014 IDDEEA announced that Bosnia and Herzegovina will introduce the third generation of biometric passports with a focus on the implementation of Supplemental Access Control (SAC) in October 2014.
It was first issued on 1 October 2014. The primary change is the use of a thin flexible polycarbonate for datapage and with a colour image imprinted in the second layer of the polycarbonate. Bosnia and Herzegovina is the first country outside the European Union and among the first in the world to implement this type of passport.
Passports for Bosnia and Herzegovina are produced by Bundesdruckerei (Federal Printing Office) from Germany and the passports are issued by Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA).
This series is also known as W Series and 2014 Model.
PHYSICAL OBSERVATIONS
The main difference can be spotted right away on the front cover with the ICAO Biometric symbol moved from the left to the right side of the margin.
The datapage has been changed from flimsy paper to a thick polycarbonate card that also holds the chip.
BIODATA PAGE
Country Code: BIH
The expiry date was printed using tactile laser engraving. With the polycarbonate datapage, the total page in the passport has increased from 32 to 34.
It has kinegram over the entire surface as well as holographic metallised element and metallised holographic strip with microprint.
LANGUAGES
Passports of Bosnia and Herzegovina are in the three official languages Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian (Cyrillic) and in addition to English.
COUNTRY'S NAME
Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
COAT-OF-ARMS
The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina currently uses the coat of arms of Bosnia and Herzegovina for official purposes.
The coat of arms of Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted in 1998, replacing the previous design that had been in use since 1992 when Bosnia and Herzegovina gained independence. It follows the design of the national flag.
The current coat of arms of Bosnia and Herzegovina presents the typical straight top, oval sides, and spiked bottom. The coat of arms has two background colours, dark blue and gold. The top right corner forms a yellow triangle symbolizing the shape of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the blue covering the remaining portions of the flag portraying the sky, rivers and lakes.
PASSPORT NUMBER
In this series, the passport number starts with B and followed by 7 digits.
Because it does not follow the ICAO requirement which uses 9 alphanumerics, the document number has been padded with one < in the MRZ.
PERFORATIONS
At the bottom of each page from page 3 until page 33 using a tapered laser. The perforations holes are getting smaller towards the end.
COST & VALIDITY LENGTH
Previously only two-type, in this series it has three-type of validity length with adult extended to 10 years.
