Republic of Macedonia was not recognized by Greece therefore the travel document issued by the Macedonian government was not accepted for inbound travelling.

Macedonians are then required to apply for a special Visa Document for cross border which is issued in Skopje, the republic's capital by the Greek's Consular Office.

Following the Prespa Agreement with Greece in June 2018, the visa requirement was abolished.
